Refugees Are Still Here. So Are We.

WORLD REFUGEE DAY IS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20

In the wake of the January shutdown of the U.S. refugee resettlement program, refugee families newly arrived in South Florida were left without support. In just two months, Refugee Assistance Alliance has taken on 30% more clients—people with no one else to turn to.

Fear, loss and uncertainty do not end at arrival. It takes years to recover from crisis, build stability, and break cycles of poverty. That’s why RAA offers three years of support through English, employment, education, economic stability, and emotional care.

We’ll be there for all of it—every step, every family, every year. To succeed, we need your compassion, generosity and support.
The need is immediate. Please, give a donation.

Meet Emilia.

She and her daughter arrived on January 9. By the time the program paused on January 21, her federal support window had lasted 11 days.  She now works long hours on a farm in Homestead, but RAA is helping her search for better job opportunities and supported her in enrolling her daughter in school.

Meet Molly.

Living in Miami for three years yet unaware she qualified for food stamps, Medicaid, or even how to open a bank account, Molly struggled alone with a chronic illness. In just one month, RAA helped Molly access Medicaid, food assistance, banking, rental support, and her first doctor’s visit in years.

Meet Mercedes.

A dentist in her home country, Mercedes arrived as a refugee in January 2025 and is already proving her determination to make a go of her new life here—she’s the first RAA student to complete and pass all Burlington English module tests.

THERE ARE MORE FAMILIES NEEDING OUR HELP

Supporting refugees isn’t just about the first few weeks or months. It takes years to escape crisis, regain stability, and adapt. Without consistent support, refugee families are statistically poorer and less employable five years after arrival than when they first arrive. Our team is stepping up—but we can’t do it alone.

Your donation provides hope. It sends a message that could not be more needed:

You are welcome here.
